A poem by Karla Linn Merrifield

Moving in the Direction of Normal
Here I am, if celestially removed from you,
empowered through the Lionsgate Portal of the stars,
through these fleeting minutes’ Persied shower
under waxing gibbous barley moon, too fast,
too soon, I am a solo meteor you might
have missed but didn’t, he who caught my glimpse—
you witnessed in one quick heavenly flash
at season’s time to flood Amazon and Nile:
my light—call it a higher vibrational
spiritual being across thousands of sky miles,
unfathomable time zones on Earth,
and the lives of our cosmic bodies bright,
my third eye winks in August night in hours
as your Sirius rises; one brief life spirals out.
